Abstract
The paper concerns the method of local correlations for detecting and identifying affine-invariant objects in the images and its implementation in the field of theoretical and applied image processing tasks, such as diagnostics, determination of coordinates and navigation; tasks of motion detection and safety and security systems.
The method is based on finding affine invariant transformation of the images' plane as a whole or their fragments and subsequent geometric analysis in order to match the same objects or three-dimensional characteristics of the scene.
Applications for the tasks of spacecraft guidance and navigation of mobile robots via single TV camera, of detection and classification of objects and intruders in security systems scenes, of inspection of the space station outer surface and its diagnostics, are considered.
