Abstract
In the paper amphibian rescue vehicle (ARV), based on screw drives, for conditions of auotonomous (unmanned) operation, designed for rescue of people in complex natural climatic conditions, is under review. Amphibian rescue vehicle have two types of drives: four screw drives for moving across firm surface (including ice, snow, sand, bogs) and hydraulic jets for moving by water. Jacknifed screws are positioned on each side of amphibia by two to provide both «flow-past» of curved underlying terrain and overcoming of scarped obstacles as high as 2 meters. Hydraulic jet is necessary both for motion in water conditions and for producing added horizontal force in order to assist ARV during rise to the ice shelves from water. In the course of rescue missions ARV in autonomous mode is to operate unmanned with full life-support for not less than 3 days (72 hours).
Intelligent control system of ARV is described.
